Portable Air Conditioning Units problems

As the name suggest, portable air conditioners can be moved from one room to another depending on the one you need to be conditioned at the time. Investing on one can save you a great deal of money on energy cost especially the room is small and there are few occupants in the room. However, they are not always the best for certain reasons that we are going to look at.

Central system mostly uses forced air. This is a principle that will allow cool air to enter the home and displace the hot air that may escape the rooms through the vents. The potable A/Cs do not us this principle as it will only cycle the air in the room. The portable A/C will fail to cool a room that has excessive heat if the doors and the windows are closed. At this juncture, all the portable air conditioner will do is recycling the hot air round and round in the room instead of removing it and replacing it with cooler air.

Vibration of the unit is another problem that people complain about when using portable A/C. The window or wall mounted air conditioners do not have much of these problem as the wall or the window will absorb most of the vibrating and reduce the noise that is produced by the air conditioners . The portable A/Cs will vibrate more as they are not fastened.

The portable A/Cs cannot be upgraded or integrated with other systems that will increase your IAQ. If you need more features, you will have to purchase a new system with the needed features.
